Explorations and experiments
Dissertation for Masters in Advanced Architectural Design at Oxford Brookes Universtity
These set of images are a documentation of various exercises and experiments with light, colour, pattern and
reflection. Various techniques and materials were explored to create illusion through these. Light became the
tool of drawing colours. Space explorations were done through models and light experiments as a process to get
into more complicated level of details.
The aim of the dissertation was to arrive at the possibilities of a program orchestrated by the key elements
mentioned above and to create a space that sparks enchantment. Bringing everything together my final design
proposal was a Bath House in London Fields. Amidst the expanse of London fields a stepped well leads to 9 cubes
on water. It was named ‘Memories of a place’ as I could relate the feel of spaces that was the product of a visit
to a stepped well or Kund in the temple town of Badami. The dissertation is an effort to express my concepts of
an enchanting space by the means of model making and photography.
